Privacy Policy
Niche Industries LLC ("Niche Industries," "we," "us," or "our") operates Aviation Parts Safety Alert, a subscription service available at aerobriefings.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how it's used and shared, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors to our website and to customers of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you give us directly
- Account information: first name, last name, organization name, and email address (your email also serves as your login username).
- Mailing address (optional): street address, city, state, postal code, and country — used only for physical mail, such as a referral reward or a printed mailing, if you ever provide one or opt into our referral program. You are never required to provide this to use the Service.
- How you heard about us and a referral code (optional): acquisition-channel information and, if entered, a referral code linking your account to the person who referred you.
- Watchlist and preference data: aircraft models, keywords, part numbers, and ATA chapters you choose to monitor, plus your report delivery schedule and time zone. This is technical/business data about the parts and aircraft you support, not personal data about a third party.
- Feedback: anything you submit through our feedback form, including an optional contact email if you're not logged in.
- Payment information: we do not collect or store your card details ourselves. Payment is handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe — see Section 4.
1.2 Information collected automatically
We use a session cookie and a CSRF-protection cookie to keep you logged in and to protect form submissions — both are strictly necessary for the Service to function and are not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics. As of this policy's effective date, we do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies or third-party trackers on this site.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and administer your account and deliver the Service, including generating and emailing your scheduled safety alert reports.
- To process payments and manage your subscription (via Stripe).
- To send account-related communications: onboarding guidance, renewal and trial-expiry reminders, and service notices. Every such email includes our physical mailing address and a way to stop receiving it.
- To respond to feedback and support requests you send us.
- To operate our referral program, including identifying who referred a new customer and, if that customer converts to a paid subscription, arranging a reward for the referring customer.
- To maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Service, including a record of report emails actually sent (kept as an audit trail).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to train any artificial intelligence or machine learning model. Matching and report generation in this Service are entirely rule-based against public government data — no part of your account or watchlist data is processed by an AI system.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/UK Visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you've signed up for), our legitimate interests (such as securing the Service and responding to your inquiries), your consent (such as an optional referral code or mailing address), and compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us operate Aviation Parts Safety Alert, and only to the extent needed for that purpose:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing. We never see or store your full card number.
- Postmark — delivery of transactional email (reports, onboarding, renewal reminders, referral-related notices).
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — if you use the address-autocomplete field at signup or on your profile, your browser sends the text you type directly to Nominatim's public search service to look up matching addresses. This happens directly between your browser and Nominatim — it does not pass through our servers.
- DigitalOcean — our hosting infrastructure, located in the United States.
- Twilio, or your email provider's SMS gateway — used only for our own internal operational alerts to Niche Industries staff, not for any customer-facing communication.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will make reasonable efforts to ensure the recipient honors this Policy.
5. International Data Transfers
Our infrastructure is located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may not have the same data protection laws as your home jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on our service providers' own safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and watchlist information for as long as your account remains open. If you delete your account, your Customer record, watchlist, report preferences, and report history are permanently deleted at that time, and any active subscription is canceled first so it cannot continue to be charged. Records of report emails actually sent (our audit trail) and financial records required for tax or accounting purposes may be retained longer as required by law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: update your name, email, and mailing address at any time from your Manage Profile page.
- Deletion: delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from your account settings — this is immediate, self-serve, and permanent.
- Email preferences: every account-related email we send includes a way to stop receiving it or a link to manage your account.
- Additional requests: for a copy of your data, or any other privacy request not covered above (including requests under GDPR, UK GDPR, or applicable U.S. state privacy laws), contact us at support@aerobriefings.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
Aviation Parts Safety Alert is a business-to-business service intended for use by aviation industry professionals and adult aircraft owners/operators. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under the age of 18.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to and from the Service and industry-standard password hashing. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
